Phase 1: Theory Training

Trainees participate in a 2 hour class that will increase their knowledge of the powered pallet truck and safe operating procedures. Major topics covered are:

  • Rules and Regulations
  • Major components and functions
  • Pre-use Inspections
  • Safe work practices
  • Batteries and recharging

Phase 2: Theory Evaluation

Trainees will complete a written or oral test to demonstrate their knowledge of powered pallet truck theory. The tests are graded and reviewed with the trainees to ensure a firm grasp of the material covered.

Phase 3: Hands-On Training

Under the watchful eye of an experienced instructor trainees practice using the powered pallet truck. They practice doing the tasks they will be expected to perform at work and gain useful operational tips and advice from an instructor. Upon completing this phase of training every trainee will have the skills needed to perform:

  • Pre-Use Inspections
  • Safe work practices
  • Loading and Unloading practices
  • Safe traveling in a worksite
  • Parking and shut-down
  • Recharging

Phase 4: Practical Evaluation
